Costume and Pose Designs

Here are some initial designs for the costumes and poses that we shall use in our music video:

This design if for the lead singer who shall lip synch to our chosen track. He wears a shiny leather jacket with the collar turned up, black sunglasses and a low necked t-shirt.
Here is a basic design of what one of our posing models shall wear. This costume consists of black clothing, red lipstick, black or shiny ribbon looped around the neck and face, dark eye makeup and a pompedour fringe hairstyle with a pony tail at the back.

This is another design for a model's costume, this one encorperateds jewelry and black glasses instead of a ribbon.
Here is a rough sketch of the dark, heavily eyelinered makeup that we decided to use on the models.

These sketches show some pose ideas for the models. The block could be replaced with a table or chair.
Here is a design for a close up on one of the models, we decided that adding different shot distances would not only make the music video introduction more interesting but also mimic a fashion photoshoot more effectivley.

Lip synching task

Here is our finished project:

We found the lip synching task relatively easy due to using markers on the video and song track to match up the lyrics to the visuals. We added fades to the beginning and end of the video to mke it look neater. What we learned in this task will help us to edit the lip synching and video together accurately in our finished project.

Our chosen idea

After pitching to the class we decided to use Idea 1 - The Sci-fi Fashion Shoot.

We shall film our music video introduction in the media studio so that we can use the lighting equipment and blank walls.
We shall also need to get in extras to pose in the video and someone to lip-synch to the music.
Costume wise our characters will wear monotone outfits with glossy black elements such as sunglasses, jewellery or lipstick.

Ideas for music video

For our introductory task we will create a 1 minute music video. Here are our 2 ideas for the song "Pass Out" - Tinie Tempah.

Idea 1:
- Sci-fi/Fashion Shoot
- Black and White shots, some with coloured lighting
- Lots of quick cuts
- Shots that match the lyrics e.g "we bring the stars out" would be a shot of someone posing with the light on, the light is switched off and glowing stars on the back wall will show
- Sharp lines of costume and colour in Mise-en-scene
- Blurred sections within shots when poses change, these contrast sharpness and make it look like a photograph of movement.

Idea 2:
- different forms of media creating hypes about the concert
- The concert itself.
- Media that will be shown: facebook, news report, MSN Messenger
- Before the concert shows we see all the people that go into making it work e.g manager, stage director. This would be one shot with people moving in and out of the shot as the camera travels down the corridor.
